The mission of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology is to ensure
that all dentists who have been trained according to Part II of the American
Dental Association’s “Guidelines for Teaching the Comprehensive Control of
Anxiety and Pain in Dentistry” will attain and maintain the highest possible
level of knowledge and skill in the spectrum of anesthesiology for
dentistry. Comprehensive written and oral examinations must be successfully
completed for the dentist anesthesiologist to be designated a Diplomate of
the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

American Dental Society
of Anesthesiology (ADSA) |
The ADSA is a unique organization that represents and
respects all dental anesthesia providers across the entire spectrum of
anesthesia and pain control in dentistry. In order to recognize the
expertise and the pursuit of excellence in dental anesthesiology the
American Dental Society of Anesthesiology established the Fellowship in
Dental Anesthesiology in 1964. In order to become a Fellow in the ADSA an
individual has to have satisfactorily completed either an oral and
maxillofacial surgery or a one year dental anesthesiology residency. The
Fellowship is the highest level of achievement within the ADSA. Most State
Dental Boards and many national organizations recognize the level of
expertise associated with the Fellowship. |

The Pennsylvania Society of
Dentist Anesthesiologists |
The Pennsylvania Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists is
the Pennsylvania component of the American Society of Dentist
Anesthesiologists, an organization of extensively trained Anesthesiologists
who are committed to providing pain and anxiety control for dental patients
in the United States and Canada. The ASDA's members provide anesthesia care
such as conscious sedation, deep sedation and general anesthesia for
patients having dental procedures in many settings. The primary goal of the
organization is to make safe and effective anxiety and pain control widely
available to the public. |
